The Audi name is born

After leaving the company named after him, August Horch creates “August Horch Automobilwerke GmbH” but is forced to rename the rival company.

The 73-hp Audi with four-stroke engine developed

The 73-hp Audi with four-stroke engine developed from the DKW F 102 marks the end of the two-stroke era.

1977

The popular Audi 100 Avant debuts

The Audi 100 Avant is a new arrival on the market.

2004

Audi introduces daytime-running LED

Audi becomes the first manufacturer to feature peripheral white LEDs as daytime running lights on the Audi A8 W12

2009

The stop-start system is introduced

The start-stop system is introduced in the second quarter of the year. The system shuts down the engine once the car has come to a stop, the gear lever stands at idle and the driver releases the clutch pedal.
